Posh host AFC Wimbledon at the Weston Homes Stadium on Saturday.

Peterborough United will be looking to bounce back from last Saturday’s disappointing 2-0 defeat at Doncaster Rovers when they take on AFC Wimbledon at the Weston Homes Stadium in Sky Bet League One action on Saturday (3pm).

The Dons have had a difficult week following the suspension of their manager Wally Downes following a charge from the FA over alleged betting. Assistant manager Glyn Hodges will be in the dugout on Saturday.

TEAM NEWS

Posh welcome back defender Frazer Blake-Tracy from a muscle injury and George Boyd from a hamstring injury but are without the services of full-back Nathan Thompson due to a freak groin injury. The Posh boss Darren Ferguson has hinted at changes following last week’s defeat so the returnees could go straight into the starting line-up.

AFC Wimbledon could give a start to former Posh striker Kwesi Appiah at the Weston Homes Stadium with front man Marcus Forss suspended following a second yellow card in the defeat to Bristol Rovers last time out.

FROM THE GAFFER

“We need to bounce back from last week, it was a poor performance and we deserved to be beaten, but we can’t get too disheartened, it is one defeat from seven and we have had some good results in that run of form. We have to be patient on Saturday, it is important not to get panicky if things are not going our way.”

FROM THE OPPOSITION

“We need to get behind the players and we need all the help we can get. It’s not over and done with, we are more than capable of getting out of the situation. When we go up to Peterborough and carry on with games in this period, we just want their support, as always, and we will be giving 100 per cent on Saturday. Peterborough are a good side and they are a real threat. We know exactly how they play, we’ve been working on it today, trying to combat that, but we know exactly how we want to play as well,” AFC Wimbledon assistant manager Glyn Hodges said.

FAN ZONE

The Fan Zone outside the Weston Homes Stadium will be jam packed full of entertainment for all the family and we are pleased to confirm that local band Sages of the Subway will be performing live from 2pm.

Sages of the Subway were formed in 2014 when Dean and James met and started making music, releasing pop song ‘Weight On Me’ in 2017. Now, along with Tom Pitcher on drums and Nathan Thompson on bass, Sages have been working on a more guitar-based, indie rock driven sound. They’ve spent the last 12 months writing and recording songs in the studio, and are taking them on the road in 2019.
