Posh Ladies face Mansfield Town Ladies at the One Call Stadium on Sunday.

The Peterborough United Ladies begin their East Midlands Women’s Regional Football League campaign on Sunday with a trip to Nottinghamshire to face Mansfield Town with the fixture taking place at the One Call Stadium, home of the Stags (2pm).

The Ladies began their FA Cup preliminary qualifying campaign last Sunday with a thumping 14-0 win over Thrapston Town Ladies and will be hoping to build on that performance and score-line against Mansfield.

Kathryn Lusk, player-manager of the Ladies, said: “We were delighted with last week’s cup performance and we are really looking forward now to turning our attentions to the start of our league campaign. The players are focussed but are under no illusions that Mansfield will be tough opponents. As ever, it is important that we ensure we concentrate on our ourselves and perform to the best of our ability.”

Summer signing Laura Beckett was named the Player of the Match for her debut performance against Thrapston and is expected to keep her place in the starting line-up. Ladies striker Keir Perkins added: “I am really looking forward to our first league game of the season and I know the rest of the squad are too.

“It is great to be given the opportunity to play at Mansfield’s One Call Stadium and it makes it even more exciting for all of us. Hopefully we can put in a good performance and build on the win in the cup last week.”

Admission to the game is free of charge. Parking is available on site.
