Darren Ferguson is hoping for another good crowd when Posh entertain Lincoln City on Saturday afternoon (3pm).

Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson believes the ‘big match’ atmosphere that Saturday’s Sky Bet League One meeting with Lincoln City at the Weston Homes Stadium will provide will help his high-scoring side as they look to make it four home wins in a row in all competitions.

The Imps, who recorded a 2-0 victory over Sunderland in front of a record all seater crowd at Sincil Bank on Saturday, are set to be backed by a noisy contingent of away fans with over 2,500 sold at 5pm on Monday afternoon.

Ferguson said: “We performed well against Ipswich and Sunderland with over 10,000 in the stadium and I am sure there will be a big crowd on Saturday too and that can only help us. Lincoln have sold over 2,500 so far and I am sure that will rise after a good win on Saturday and it is a fixture that I think people will be looking forward too.

“We have won our last three in the league at home and our home record is good so we are looking forward to the challenge that Lincoln will provide. I watched them a bit last season and they had begun to change their style then. Shay McCartan was playing in the number 10 position and they had a lot of energy.

“They brought in Jack Payne and Jorge Grant during the summer, good technical players and in Tyler Walker they have a player who knows where the back of the net is. Yes, they can mix it up with John Akinde as he provides a physical threat, but generally their style is different. They have obviously changed management in recent weeks. Michael Appleton is a good manager at this level and they had an excellent win at the weekend,” Ferguson said.

The Posh reserves travel to Milton Keynes in league action on Tuesday afternoon (1pm) with a similar line-up to the one used against Arsenal under 21s deployed.
