Posh boss Darren Ferguson revealed that Lincoln City at home was one of the first fixtures he looked for when they came out back in June.

Peterborough United welcome Lincoln City to the Weston Homes Stadium on Saturday afternoon (3pm) as the two sides meet in the league for the first time since 2008.

Manager Darren Ferguson, who was also in charge when Posh beat the Imps 4-0 thanks to a double from now first team coach Aaron Mclean, admitted in the pre-match press conference this week that Lincoln at home was one of the first fixtures he looked for when the fixtures were released back in the summer.

“Lincoln might not be classed as a local derby in the same way that Northampton or Cambridge is, but I think back to when we last played them and there was certainly plenty of interest. They are just down the road, it is not far for them to travel and I know that they will be backed by a large away support.

“When the fixtures came out back in June, Lincoln at home was one of the first games I looked for. We haven’t met them in the league for quite a while so it is a game that I am certainly looking forward too. Michael Appleton is a good manager, he has tried to put down his own stamp on things and they got a great win against Sunderland.

“They have some good technical players. Jack Payne likes to play a possession based game and they have good wide players too. I am sure it will be an entertaining game. We have won our last three in the league and four in all competitions at home. We want to continue that. We know that home form is key and it has been a bit of an Achilles heel in recent seasons,” Ferguson said.

Lincoln have sold over 2,600 tickets for the game and will occupy the Motorpoint Stand as well as the normal away allocation in the North Stand. Tickets are available for Posh fans at www.theposhtickets.com, via the Ticketmaster hotline 0844 847 1934 (Calls cost 7ppm plus your network access fee) and in person at the Weston Homes Stadium Ticket Office.
