The Peterborough United Ladies had an excellent weekend with a comprehensive victory over the team in fourth place.

Peterborough United Ladies moved into 2nd place in the Premier Division of the East Midlands Women’s Regional League with a comprehensive 5-2 win over 4th place Ollerton Town Ladies at the weekend.

The Ladies started really well when Hannah Pendred was played in the 2nd minute and shot from close range to make it 1-0. It was then the turn of Kathryn Lusk in the 13th minute to make it 2-0 when she executed a well struck free kick which sailed over the keepers outstretched hand.

Megan Parrett made it 3-0 in the 33rd minute when from a tight angle she hit a right footed shot which flew into the goal. At this point the Ladies were cruising but a lapse in concentration allowed the opposition to get a goal back to make it 3-1. Undeterred the Ladies come out in the second half determined to restore their three goal cushion.

They didn’t have to wait long when Donna McGuigan in the 46th min rifled home a well struck shot in the top left hand corner of the goal to make it 4-1. McGuigan then got her second goal of the game in the 53rd minute to make it 5-1 with a shot from close range that flew into the net.

Ollerton pulled another goal back in the 72nd minute to make it 5-2 but it was only a small consolation for all their hard work. This was another clinical performance from the Ladies who comfortably beat a well organised and disciplined Ollerton team.
