The Posh Ladies opened their account for the new year with a comfortable away victory at Mansfield Town.

After a month of no competitive football Peterborough United Ladies got their 2019 campaign off to a flying start with a comfortable 3-1 win against Mansfield Town Ladies. The Ladies started strongly and it came as no surprise when the Ladies scored after only eight minutes to make it 1-0. Stacey McConville collected the ball and chipped it into the feet of Hannah Pendred who finished from close range.

The Ladies continued to dominate possession with some excellent interchange play between Pendred, Challis, Driscoll and McConville. The second goal was surely coming and in the 26th minute the hard working Perkins laid a pass to Emma Stevenson who coolly lobbed the goalie from some 20yards to make it 2-0.

The second half saw the Posh Ladies continuing to dominate possession but struggling to find the back of the net. They finally got their reward in the 65th minute when Donna McGuigan put in an excellent cross to the far post which was met with a great strike by Hannah Pendred who fired the ball into the back of the net to make it 3-0.

Posh continued to dominate play but simply couldn’t add to the score.  The opposition pulled a goal back in the 80th minute but it was too late to make a comeback. This was a comfortable win for the Ladies who played some very attractive football for periods of the game.
