Posh host promotion chasing Sunderland at the ABAX Stadium on Easter Monday (3pm).

Peterborough United entertain Sunderland at the ABAX Stadium in Sky Bet League One action on Easter Monday and the Black Cats will be backed by around 4,000 supporters as the campaign enters the final few weeks.

Jack Ross’s men recorded a 2-0 victory over Doncaster Rovers in front of the live TV cameras on Saturday evening, two hours after Posh had been held to a 1-1 draw at Fleetwood Town thanks to a last gasp strike from substitute Ashley Hunter.

TEAM NEWS

Posh lost the services of central defender Ryan Tafazolli in the warm-up at Highbury on Good Friday as he continues to battle a knee injury. He remains doubtful for the clash with the Black Cats while fellow defender Ben White is also in that category. He travelled to Fleetwood but was not named in the 18.

Darren Ferguson confirmed that he is likely to make changes to the team that drew 1-1 with the Cod Army with Matt Godden, George Cooper, Callum Cooke among those to be pushing for a berth in the starting line-up.

Sunderland are also expected to tinker with their side, but former Posh defender Jack Baldwin is unlikely to start after sitting out the 2-0 win over Doncaster, a few days after being part of the Sunderland back four that conceded five to Coventry City.

FROM THE GAFFER

“Sunderland is a big game and it is one that we are looking forward too. We know that we have to win the remaining four fixtures if we are going to sneak into the top six. We have to keep going to the end. It was disappointing to concede a goal in stoppage time in the manner we did on Friday, but we have trained over the weekend and we will make changes,” Darren Ferguson said.
