A look ahead to the eagerly awaited clash with Portsmouth can be found here.

Peterborough United entertain Portsmouth on Saturday afternoon (3pm) as the top two in Sky Bet League One collide in what promises to be an entertaining encounter in front of the biggest crowd of the season at the ABAX Stadium.

Both sides are unbeaten with Posh sitting top of the table after six wins from the opening seven league fixtures. Pompey have won five and drawn two of their first seven games and sit in second place in the fledgling table.

TEAM NEWS

Posh boss Steve Evans confirmed that midfielder Callum Cooke is fit and available for selection after a short spell on the sidelines due to an ankle injury. Cooke returned to full training on Thursday and is in the manager’s plans for the clash with Portsmouth. There are no other injury worries to contend with in the squad.

Andre Green will miss Pompey’s top-of-the-table clash with Peterborough. The on-loan Aston Villa winger, who was withdrawn 45 minutes into his debut against Shrewbury last Saturday, sits out the trip to the ABAX Stadium with a knee injury.

He joins Anton Walkes (groin) and Jack Whatmough (hamstring) on the sidelines, with both defenders expected to be fit for the visit of Wycombe on September 22. Also ruled out of the Posh trip is Dion Donohue. He picked up a hamstring injury when playing for the reserves against Reading in midweek.

FROM THE MANAGER

“Portsmouth are a very good side and they have an excellent fan base who I am sure will make plenty of noise at the ABAX on Saturday. If we finish above Portsmouth at the end of the season then I am sure we will be playing Championship football. Kenny Jackett is an experienced manager and his team will provide a tough test,” Steve Evans said.

FROM THE OPPOSITION

“Peterborough made a high amount of changes in the summer, but have hit the ground running. As Peterborough do, they move players on, but a high amount of players come in. They have gelled quickly, hit the ground running and set the standard for the division so far – particularly in terms of goalscoring. Although it will be a challenge, it’s one we’re looking forward to.
