Big wins for the Futsal team as they continue their fine recent form.

Both the Peterborough United A and B Teams were successful in the latest round of fixtures in the Midlands National League, Championship Division last Wednesday (January 24).

Posh B 14-2 Port Vale A

Posh B put their opponents to the sword in the first fixture of the day at St George’s Park. They rectified their last league outing a fortnight ago, losing to rivals Cambridge United A, by attacking Vale from the off and their pressure duly paid off.

Man-of-the-match nomination Jake Cooper netted six, with braces for Keith Mureza, Ben Denton and Alex Findley.  Adam Barker and goalkeeper Dan England also contributed with strikes of their own, as strong, tenacious play in the final third, along with a quick tempo throughout, was too much for Vale to handle.

Posh A 7-1 Mansfield Town A

The A side extended their lead at the top of the table with a dominant display against ‘The Stags’, settling the result within the first period.  A five-goal blitz sealed the deal for Posh, with star men in striker Antonio Jaquite and winger Rodrigo Silva notching two each before the break, Jaquite then completing his hat-trick after the interval.

Despite a Mansfield consolation, Posh managed to make it a magnificent seven with Isaac Saywell and Oliver Goymour getting on the scoresheet as the A side blew away the opposition with fearsome, attacking play.

Posh B 7-3 Stoke City B

Having gone behind early on, Posh found the resolve to make it two wins in two with a resounding victory. Another highlight in the side, Alex Findley, fired in a treble to help his team earn their fourth league win of the season, with Jake Cooper helping himself to a brace.

Adam Barker made it two goals in two games from the centre of the park and Ben Denton added to his personal goal tally, albeit in the run-up to his dismissal in what was the only blot on the Posh B playbook.

Aside from that and despite ‘The Potters’ trying to find a path back into the contest, they were unable to break down a stubborn Posh defence.

Posh A 11-0 Stoke City B

If it could get any worse for ‘The Potters’ against Posh, then it most certainly did. Posh compounded the misery on their opponents with a competent display of skill, precision and counter-attacking football, as well as maintaining a stable defensive line.

Antonio Jaquite was the pick of the players, scoring five and claiming two assists, increasing his current tally to 20 league goals for the season.  Rodrigo Silva netted a quadruple to make it six goals for him on the day in another stylish performance.

Ryan Cook added a double, but another played who impacted the game was Oliver Goymour with three assists. A classy outfit that showed why they are the front-runners, now stretching their unbeaten league streak to nine games.
