Posh make the trip to the Montgomery Waters Stadium on Saturday.

Peterborough United return to Sky Bet League One action on Saturday with a trip to face Shrewsbury Town (3pm) who have recently changed their manager with former Wrexham boss Sam Ricketts now in the hot seat at the Salop.

Posh go into the encounter off the back of an entertaining 4-4 draw at Bradford City on Tuesday evening with goalkeeper Conor O’Malley saving three penalties to ensure progress into the third round and a tie at Championship side Middlesbrough.

TEAM NEWS

Despite 120 minutes of action in midweek, manager Steve Evans has no fresh injury worries to contend with ahead of the fixture and believes his squad are in ‘excellent shape’ as they travel to face the Shrews.

Sam Ricketts has no new injury worries as he prepares for his first home league game in charge of Shrewsbury. Shaun Whalley could come into contention for a starting berth after playing a full 90 minutes for the reserves in midweek.

Whalley recently returned from six and a half weeks out with a calf injury but had to settle for a place on the bench against Burton last week. Ricketts also indicated that striker Lee Angol could figure after he scored a hat-trick in the same reserves game. Another former Posh player, Anthony Grant, is expected to line-up in midfield.

FROM THE MANAGER

“I remember Sam as a player. He scored an unbelievable goal for Wolverhampton Wanderers against my Rotherham side with his left-foot. It was perhaps a cross! I am looking forward to taking my side to face his. Shrewsbury have good players, they have one or two that have played for me in the past and we know they will be a tough test for our players, but we go there with confidence,” Steve Evans said.

FROM THE OPPOSITION

“The support at Burton last week was excellent, so I’m really looking forward to that support again at home. And hopefully we can give them a performance to be proud of and with that comes the right result. The performance is all we can control,” Shrewsbury boss Sam Ricketts said.
