Steve Evans' men entertain Fleetwood Town on Saturday afternoon at the ABAX Stadium.

Peterborough United conclude their home Sky Bet League One programme with a fixture against Fleetwood Town at the ABAX Stadium on Saturday (3pm) and manager Steve Evans will want to end the season well with an away trip to Portsmouth still to come.

Posh slipped to a 3-1 reverse at Shrewsbury Town in midweek while the Cod Army were beaten by Wigan Athletic at Highbury in their last fixture. Fleetwood have appointed Joey Barton as their new gaffer and he will take charge in the summer following the conclusion of John Sheridan’s contract with the club.

TEAM NEWS

Posh are waiting on the fitness of Marcus Maddison and Jack Marriott ahead of the game, but goalkeeper Conor O’Malley has been ruled out due to a muscular problem. Ryan Tafazolli and Alex Penny are also on the sidelines due to injury.

Fleetwood have a fully-fit squad for the trip to the ABAX Stadium. Manager John Sheridan could make changes after last week's 4-0 thrashing by Wigan, for what will be his penultimate match in charge.

MANAGER QUOTES

“John has done a very good job at Fleetwood and he will not be short of suitors in the summer when he is replaced by Joey Barton. Fleetwood have some good players and will provide a tough test for us but we want to finish the season well. I don’t like losing games and it is important that we give our home supporters something to remember us by before the summer.”

FROM THE OPPOSITION

“Peterborough will be disappointed. Their aim was to get in the play-offs and they have always been in and around there. I don’t think they can get in there now and they will be disappointed but Steve has only just gone in.

“Peterborough are one of those teams. On their day they can be very good; they have got good players attacking-wise, they play good football but they are on a slippery run at the moment. They have not got a lot to play for but Steve, like myself, will have a bit of pride in wanting his team to win and, being at home, wanting to finish in style. Steve won’t want to lose, I don’t want to lose it; will be a good game and hopefully we will come out on top,” John Sheridan said.
