Posh head to the Banks's Stadium on Saturday looking to build on the home success over Milton Keynes Dons.

Peterborough United travel to the Banks’s Stadium to face Walsall in Sky Bet League One action on Saturday (3pm) and manager Grant McCann has been presented with a selection dilemma as the four players that came into the starting line-up for the 2-0 victory over Milton Keynes Dons performed admirably.

Posh come up against a Walsall side who were beaten 5-1 by Rotherham United in their last fixture, but manager Jon Whitney has promised a reaction from his side. The Saddlers are a different proposition in front of their own fans and were winners against Posh in the fixture between the two sides last term.

TEAM NEWS

Posh welcome back midfielder Anthony Grant from suspension, while Jack Baldwin, Junior Morias and Leo Da Silva Lopes are all in contention after being rested on Tuesday evening. Callum Chettle is still sidelined with a slight muscle strain while Andrea Borg is nearing fitness after returning from international duty with a groin strain.

Influential attacking midfielder Erhun Oztumer was substituted at half-time of the defeat against Rotherham with a knock and is rated as a doubt for the game against his former club.

MCCANN QUOTES

“We provided a good reaction to the defeat against Bradford on Tuesday night and we go to Walsall with confidence. We are looking forward to the game. I know our recent record isn’t great there, but I remember a big 4-1 victory where we played really well. I have got a few decisions to make regarding team selection because all four that came into the side on Tuesday performed well.”

FROM THE OPPOSITION

“Peterborough is a really tough game. They are second in the table at the minute. Grant McCann has got them playing with a real energy. They responded to the defeat against Bradford by totally outplaying MK Dons. They tweaked their shape a little bit. They had been playing with a back three like us but they switched to a four.

“They are a threat. Jack Marriott is a proven goalscorer. They have brought in Ricky Miller from Dover. Marcus Maddison is a real danger. But at home we have won more games that anyone else. We are a formidable opponent at home. We have put Rotherham behind us and it’s all about what we do next. We will be judged on our reaction and we are looking forward to the challenge,” Walsall manager Jon Whitney said.
