The Peterborough United Ladies opened their League campaign with a comprehensive 9-1 win over local side, Riverside Ladies. In a match reduced to 30 minutes each half due to bad light, Peterborough United Ladies stormed into the lead after only four minutes when Laura Reed scored her first goal for the Ladies to make it 1-0.

Riverside levelled the scores, but Amy Gore gave Posh the lead in the 9th minute to make it 2-1. In the 13th minute Jess Driscoll restored the two goal cushion to make it 3-1. In the 17th minute Amy Challis made it 4-1 followed by Tash Applegate in the 19th minute to make it 5-1. Just before half time Keir Perkins got the first of her three goals to make it 6-1.

In the second half the Ladies continued to exert pressure on the beleaguered Riverside defence and it proved to be decisive when Keir Perkins got her second in the 35th minute to make it 7-1. Tash Applegate then got herself on the score sheet in the 50th minute to make it 8-1. Keir Perkins got her hat trick in the 56th minute to make it 9-1.

This was an excellent start to the League campaign by Peterborough United Ladies. In a reduced game they dominated possession and were comfortable winners.
