Important dates in the Futsal calendar.

On Sunday 7th March, a select group of Development Centre players and Scholars travelled to Loughborough to watch IFA Loughborough V Genesis. This game finished 5-4 to Genesis in what was a very close encounter. Those involved had a great day out with coaches Michael Johnson and Callum Avent.

A select group of U16’s have been selected to represent the Posh Futsal at a tournament at UEA Norwich on the 14th March. This will be against other u16’s teams local to the Norfolk area, if a Posh team succeeds then they will go onto a regional competition at the Copper Box Arena.

In the Scholarship Programme Posh A faced a tough game against Birmingham, a side who gave the Posh a tough test previously this year at the EFL Futsal Cup. This time round, Posh were far too strong, beating them 6-2. Man of the match Nassunculo scored a fantastic solo effort during the match, going round, beating players for fun before finishing the ball past a helpless keeper. He scored three on the day, with Jaquite, Hollis and Keilty all adding goals to make it six goals on the day for Posh, three points taken away in a must-win game for the blues.

Player-Coach Louis Bland made his 100th appearance for the Posh in the fixture against Birmingham, he has been key within the squad over the past three seasons, and has been vital in the squad this year in terms of success. He was very pleased to mark this landmark with a vital win.

Posh B went into their last game against Wolverhampton, needing a win to secure a nationals finals place. Findley once again continued his scoring form as he got himself a goal in the fixture. Machado and Captain Taylor also got on the scoresheet, but Posh were unable to win the fixture as they lost 4-3, a very tight fixture in which Posh had the better of chances. Taylor picked up the man of the match award in this fixture.

On Wednesday 31st May, the U13-U16’s will be travelling to Cambridge for Development centre fixtures. This will be an exciting time for players and coaches as this is the first time we will have played Cambridge, known rivals to the Posh, in development centre fixtures. It will be a strong test for players as they put their learning into practice.

Also, on Thursday 18th May, the scholarship will be hosting its annual end of season event. This year, the 1st year of scholars will be playing the soon departing 2nd year scholars in an 11v11 match at the ABAX Stadium. We are very pleased to announce this, the first time we have hosted this. The kick off time for this event is 2pm, any spectators are welcome.

We also are holding our presentation evening for our Futsal Development centre, this will take place with our futsal scholar’s presentation evening on Thursday 13th July in the EXEC Suite. All family and friends of players involved are welcome. Dev Centre players will be up for the awards of Best trainer meanwhile scholars will have a wide variety of trophies up for the grabs.
