Manager Grant McCann has confirmed that striker Jack Marriott is unlikely to be involved at St Albans.

Peterborough United open their pre-season friendly account on Saturday afternoon with a trip to non-league St. Albans (3pm) as striker Junior Morias makes his first return to Clarence Park since leaving in January of this year.

Posh boss Grant McCann has confirmed this week that he will give all of his players the opportunity to get 45 minutes into their legs after an intense training camp in Spain this week, however, striker Jack Marriott and winger Harry Anderson are unlikely to feature.

Anderson picked up a knock in training this week while Marriott, who arrived from Luton Town in the summer, is nursing a tight thigh. Marriott is expected to return to full training on Wednesday. Jermaine Anderson is another who won’t feature as he continues his comeback from a long-term injury while Michael Bostwick may feature after training this week.

“I want to make sure the squad get minutes into their legs so we will play two different XIs for each 45 minutes. It will be a good test for us at St. Albans, we need to make sure that we move the ball quickly and get the tempo right. They will be keen to get a result and I am sure they will be up for it. It is not about results at this stage, we want to try and few things and this is a good opportunity,” McCann said.

Tickets are available on the day only priced at £10 for adults, £7 for seniors over 65, the unemployed and students, and £3 for juniors under 16. Please note that relevant ID may be required. Parking at the stadium is limited so fans are advised to give yourself plenty of time for the journey.
