Posh have secured the loan signing of Rotherham United defender.

Peterborough United have bolstered their defensive options ahead of Sunday's Emirates FA Cup third round tie at Premier League leaders Chelsea with the arrival of Rotherham United defender Dominic Ball in a loan deal until the end of the season.

Ball (21) linked up with his new team-mates after completing the necessary paperwork and will be available for the tie at Stamford Bridge.

Manager Grant McCann said: "It is great to have Dominic at the club. He has good experience, he won the league last year with Glasgow Rangers in a loan spell and we are delighted to have him here.

"It is an extra option for us defensively, he can play at centre back, full back or in the holding midfield role, so it is great to have that versatility. However, we have brought him here to fill the centre back position because we were a bit short with Ricardo leaving and Jack injured.

"He is a good player, a footballing centre back who can defend and it is great to have him in the building," McCann said.

After representing Northern Ireland at youth level, Ball has represented England at under 20 level. He signed for Rotherham from Tottenham Hotspur last year and made nine appearances in the Championship. He has also had a loan stint with neighbours Cambridge United in 2015, making 11 appearances.
