Posh Suffer Home Mauling By Dons

Peterborough United shipped four goals at home as Milton Keynes Dons took advantage of poor defending and a side looking devoid of confidence at the ABAX Stadium.

All four goals came in the second half with the majority of them coming from well-worked corner kick routines as Grant McCann's men were well beaten by a Dons side who looked classy at times.

Marcus Maddison tested goalkeeper Martin inside the opening three minutes with a left-footed effort and moments later, Posh went even closer as Lee Angol managed to round goalkeeper Martin, only for Walsh to clear on the goal-line.

McGee denied Barnes at the other end after a swift counter attack from Robbie Nielson's men.

Aneke and Maynard were both denied from close-range by McGee and a block from Tafazolli as the visitors continued to cause one or two problems.

Angol sent a curler over the top from 25-yards at the other end after good work in the build up from Taylor.

Maddison saw a cross-shot spilled by Martin on 38 minutes, but the Dons were able to hack the ball clear and less than 60 seconds later, Samuelsen was inches away from connecting to another Maddison delivery.

Maddison found the side-netting with a fierce effort after a strong run as the first half drew to a close.

Neither side made any changes at the interval with Posh now kicking towards the London Road End in the second period.

Williams was cautioned for bringing down Maddison on 52 minutes, but the set-piece came to nothing.

Upson saw an effort from range scooped around the post by McGee with Agard firing over from long-range.

The opening goal of the game arrived on 59 minutes as Harvey BARNES squeezed a toe-poked effort through the crowd and into the bottom corner as Posh failed to clear from a corner.

Barnes was denied by McGee as the goal-scorer had made great progress in a foot race against Smith on this near side.

Posh made a double change on 64 minutes with Tom Nichols and Gwion Edwards replacing Forrester and Angol.

On 70 minutes, the Dons made it 2-0 and again it was coming, a low strike from former Posh loanee AGARD across McGee and into the bottom corner.

Moments later and it was 3-0, ANEKE firing home an unstoppable effort into the roof of the net after the Dons had worked a corner kick routine well.

The fans inside the stadium completed a wonderful tribute to Chris Turner by lighting their phones, a superb effort particularly given the scoreline.

Martin did well to deny Edwards on 77 minutes while Aneke fired a free-kick over the bar after Tafazolli had been cautioned.

A fourth goal arrived for the Dons on 82 minutes and yet again it came from a short corner, ANEKE again profiting, this time firing low across McGee from a tight angle.

Samuelsen lashed a shot past the upright as the fixture moved into three minutes of stoppage time.
