Posh Ladies start 2017 with an impressive win over local rivals.

Peterborough United got their New Year off to a great start with a 3-1 win over local rivals Northampton Town Ladies.

In pretty grim conditions for both teams it was Northampton Town Ladies that took a deserved 1-0 lead in the 25 minute. However a right footed drive from striker, Bryony Fox in the 44th minute made it 1-1 as the Ladies went into half time.

Player-Manager Kathryn Lusk's half time talk clearly did the trick as the Ladies moved up a gear in the second half. Jess Driscoll and Jenna Lusk started to dominate the midfield. Chances were created but the Northampton goalkeeper made some excellent saves from Fox and Tash Applegate.

The Ladies kept probing and looking for an opportunity and it finally came in the 74th minute when Jess Driscoll dragged the ball back and lashed a right footed drive in the top right hand corner of the net to make it 2-1.

Not satisfied with a single goal lead the Ladies continued to probe the Northampton Ladies defence and in the 80th minute Jess Driscoll became provider when she placed a ball through to Tash Applegate who scored from close range. This was another excellent team performance from the Peterborough United Ladies showing great resilience in coming back from 1-0 down.
