Posh make midfield man their second deadline day signing.

Peterborough United have made their second deadline day signing with the arrival of experienced Port Vale midfielder Anthony Grant for an undisclosed fee.

The 29-year-old has penned a two-and-a-half year contract at the ABAX Stadium with a year's option and will link up with his new team-mates ahead of the weekend trip to his former club. He is able to play against his former club.

Grant began his career at Chelsea, making his first team debut for the Premier League side in 2005. He has made over 400 career appearances at clubs including Southend United, Wycombe Wanderers and Crewe Alexandra.

He was the joint-captain at Vale Park and the defensive midfielder has made 24 appearances at the heart of the Valiants midfield.

Posh boss Grant McCann was delighted with the midfielder's arrival: "I am really delighted to have Anthony at the club. I wanted to add some experience. I have played against him over the years so I know exactly what he can do.

"He is a really difficult opponent. He has been captain at Port Vale, he is a leader on and off the pitch and I think he will bring a lot to the dressing room. He has an excellent passing range, he dictates games and he will help us moving forward," McCann said.

We will have reaction from Anthony shortly.
