Posh return to action at the ABAX Stadium on Tuesday night.

Peterborough United entertain Sky Bet League Two side Barnet at the ABAX Stadium on Tuesday evening in the first round of the Carabao Cup (7.45pm) and manager Grant McCann has confirmed he will be fielding his strongest available starting XI.

The Bees fought back from 2-0 down to earn a point at Forest Green Rovers on Saturday while Posh opened their account with a 2-1 victory over Plymouth Argyle at the ABAX Stadium thanks to a deflected strike from Leo Da Silva Lopes and a Junior Morias effort.

TEAM NEWS

McCann has confirmed that a few of his players are carrying knocks following the opening day win and will be assessed ahead of the fixture with the Bees. Ricky Miller is suspended while Jermaine Anderson remains sidelined with injury, but is making good progress.

Barnet are set to include former Posh players Shaquile Coulthirst and Ricardo Almeida Santos in their line-up, but are expected to be without influential striker John Akinde due to injury. Curtis Weston is another doubt while Jack Taylor is suspended after collecting a second booking in stoppage time for a foul.

MCCANN QUOTES

“We have done all our homework on Barnet. We have had the report from their 2-2 draw at Forest Green and have had them watched. We know what they all about, but we are focussing on how we can cause them problems. I was happy with our performance on Saturday, we created a lot of chances and we are looking forward to the game.

“I won’t be making changes to the line-up unless anyone is ruled out with injury and we will assess that ahead of the game. I want momentum and I want to go as far as we possibly can in this competition,” McCann said.
