Posh suffer a 2-0 defeat at Highbury against Fleetwood Town.

Peterborough United suffered a 2-0 defeat to Fleetwood Town in Sky Bet League action as Grant McCann's men failed to put anything together in front of goal on a disappointing afternoon.

Posh were dealt a huge blow ahead of kick-off with influential attacking midfielder Marcus Maddison pulling out of the game due to illness, George Moncur given the nod to start in his position.

However, the hosts took advantage of poor defending to open the scoring inside two minutes as SOWERBY powered through a huge gap in the centre of the defence to race onto a David Ball pass and slot past McGee.

Tom Nichols was denied by Neal after the goalkeeper had initially sliced his clearance while Shaquile Coulthirst saw a shot blocked.

Ball saw a wonderful curling free-kick tipped over the bar by McGee after Baldwin was penalised for a foul.

The Posh centre back went into the book for a foul midway through the half, following Bobby Grant and Jimmy Ryan into the referee's notebook.

The best chance of the first half fell to Tafazolli, who was picked out by Forrester six-yards from goal, his header was looping and straight into the arms of Neal.

Coulthirst fired over the bar from just inside the box after an excellent move involving White and Da Silva Lopes as Posh pushed for an equaliser.

On 65 minutes, the Cod Army made it 2-0 as a sweeping move on the counter attack was concluded by Grant's effort being diverted into the back of the net by Baldwin.

Posh huffed and puffed in the final moments, but created nothing in front of goal as Uwe Rosler's men saw out a comfortable win.
