The football club can confirm a pre-season friendly with Championship side Norwich City.

Peterborough United are pleased to announce that Sky Bet Championship side Norwich City will visit the ABAX Stadium for a pre-season friendly with a bit of a twist on Saturday 16th July (3pm).

The match will be extended into four quarters of 30 minutes to allow both teams to give their players more game time as preparations intensify for the 2016-17 season, which means the fixture will last 120 minutes.

The Canaries used this format in a number of pre-season fixtures last term, playing two different XIs for each half of football and Posh will look to do the same when the sides meet at the ABAX.

Manager Grant McCann is looking forward to a good test for his players; "The way this fixture is structured will allow us to give the players in our squad extra minutes on the pitch and it will be a good test for us against a side that were playing in the Premier League last season."

Norwich have two former Posh defenders in their ranks with Russell Martin and Ryan Bennett expected to feature while Harry Toffolo was on-loan at the ABAX from the Canaries in the second half of last season.

Alex Neil's side suffered relegation from the Premier League last term but have been installed as one of the favourites with the bookmakers to make an immediate return.

Ticket prices for this fixture will be announced in due course. Posh have already announced a home friendly with a West Ham XI on Tuesday 19th July (7.30pm) and a number of away games have also been confirmed - a current list can be found here.

The club are still finalising one or two other fixtures, which will be announced next week.
