Posh chosen as the opposition for John Blackwell testimonial fixture and an XI will face Histon in pre-season schedule.

Peterborough United will open their pre-season friendly account at the Jakemans Stadium against Dennis Greene's Boston United on Saturday 9th July (3pm).

The fixture is a testimonial for long-serving Pilgrims secretary John Blackwell, who is leaving after over 38 years of service with the club.

Admission prices for this game will be announced in due course. Boston missed out on promotion from the Conference North in the play-offs after defeat to North Ferriby United. There are a number of links between the two sides; former Posh youth team defender Carl Piergianni has been a regular at the heart of the Pilgrims' back-line in recent campaigns but has departed to go travelling.

Posh coaches David Farrell and Ryan Semple also featured for the club during their playing days.

Posh can also confirm an XI will travel to non-league side Histon on Tuesday 2nd August (7.30pm). Posh signed Jordan Nicholson from the Stutes but he missed the back end of the campaign with a broken leg.

Admission prices for the fixture at the Glassworld Stadium, Bridge Road, will be announced in the next few days.
