A crowd of just under 500 watch Posh Ladies at the ABAX Stadium.

The FA Cup final and poor weather did not prove a deterrant for supporters on Saturday evening as just under 500 arrived at the ABAX Stadium to watch the Posh Ladies entertain West Ham United Ladies in a specially arranged friendly fixture.

Those supporters were treated to an entertaining game in difficult conditions as the Posh Ladies played at the stadium for the first time since their re-formation.

Playing against a side from the Premier League (South), the Posh side were always going to face a tough challenge, but they acquitted themselves well against their higher ranked opponents and thoroughly deserved the goal they got deep in the second half through Tash Applegate.

Applegate finished off a stylish Posh move, firing low into the bottom corner after good approach play, but the Hammers proved too strong overall, running out 5-1 winners in front of an appreciative crowd.

Holly Peters and Anett Vilipuu both netted twice for the visitors with Gabi Hughes also on target in her first appearance for West Ham.

Peterborough United would like to thank everyone who attended the game and remind you that the girls are in cup final action against Northampton Town at Raunds Town on Saturday afternoon (4.45pm kick-off).
