Peterborough United lost for the fifth successive Sky Bet League One fixture in a row after a poor display at a sodden Gigg Lane with Bury recording a 3-1 victory, defender Ricardo Almeida Santos also seeing red for the second time this season.Michael Bostwick fired wide from 25-yards on 16 minutes after an intelligent lay-off from Jon Taylor.
The Shakers were forced into a change moments later with Mellis replaced by John O'Sullivan. Goalkeeper Moore made a decent stop to deny a deflected effort from Andrew Tutte as Bury pressed.
The deadlock was broken on 28 minutes as a cross from the left was allowed to reach striker Leon CLARKE and he squeezed a shot into the back of the net via the inside of the post.
The lead was doubled on 33 minutes and it was as simple as you like, Mayor picked out LOWE and he cut inside and fired into the corner from close-range.
Pugh fired just over the top with a piledriver from distance as the home side continued to dominate. Maddison saw a swerving free-kick tipped over the crossbar by Lawlor on 42 minutes after he himself had been felled.
Graham Westley made a change at the break with Shaquile Coulthirst replacing Ntlhe as Posh deployed a 4-4-2 system. Taylor poked into the side-netting on 49 minutes after a deep Maddison centre.
The deficit was halved on 52 minutes as goalkeeper Lawlor made a terrible clearance and presented MADDISON with a chance on his left-foot, which he coolly slotted into the back of the net.
Maddison saw a curling effort beaten away by Lawlor after the former Gateshead man cut inside onto his favoured left-foot 20-yards from goal.
Goalkeeper Moore produced a fine stop to push a Mayor effort around the post on 58 minutes as Bury threatened a third.
An inswinging cross from Maddison was met by Nichols on 72 minutes but the former Exeter man guided his header wide of the target. Taylor headed another fine Maddison centre over the bar before he was withdrawn with Samuelsen his replacement.
Posh were reduced to 10-men moments later with Almeida Santos sent off for a second yellow card for hauling down Lowe. From the resulting set-piece, Bury made it 3-1 as TUTTE fired over the wall and past Moore by his near post.
Bury introduced Tom Pope for Lowe on 80 minutes. Callum Chettle was introduced for his debut, replacing Da Silva Lopes. Clarke fired wide of the near post in stoppage time.
