Posh boss spoke to the posh.com following the release of the 2016-2017 fixtures.

Peterborough United manager Grant McCann admitted he would have liked to have started the new EFL Sky Bet League One campaign with a home game after the fixture computer provided Posh with an away trip to face Rochdale.

It is the third year in a row that Posh will open the new campaign at Spotland with a 1-0 win in 2014 thanks to a Kyle Vassell goal and a 2-0 defeat in 2015.

'It would have been nice to start with a home league game at the ABAX in front of our supporters, but we are looking forward to what lies in front of us. The day of the fixture release is an exciting one for supporters and I am sure that everyone is picking out their favourites.

"Hopefully we can get a home draw in the first round of the EFL Cup when it is drawn later on Wednesday," McCann said.
