Goalkeeper Ben Alnwick has penned a new contract at the ABAX Stadium.

Peterborough United goalkeeper Ben Alnwick has penned a new three-year contract at the ABAX Stadium.

The experienced shot-stopper who has been excellent between the sticks since his arrival, putting in a string of Man of the Match displays, including the live TV fixture with Coventry City.

Boss Grant McCann was pleased that Ben had committed his future to the club: "I am delighted. He is one of the best keepers in the league in my opinion and I am pleased he has signed for the next three years.

"He has come back in great shape, he is trim, looking ready to go and I am really happy that we have been able to get this done," McCann said.

Alnwick started his professional career with Sunderland before a move to Tottenham Hotspur. He has had loan spells at a number of clubs including Leicester City and signed for Posh in 2014 and has made 80 appearances in between the sticks.

He missed the back end of last season due to injury, but is now fully fit. Physio Jon Chatfield confirmed: "Ben stayed behind at the end of last season and did a lot of work ahead of the summer and he has come back in great shape."
