Taylor Earns Posh Notable Away Success

26 July 2016

Paul Taylor earns Posh a notable pre-season victory at Brentford.

Peterborough United chalked up an impressive 1-0 victory at Sky Bet Championship side Brentford in the latest pre-season friendly with Paul Taylor scoring the only goal of the game inside the first two minutes at Griffin Park.

Grant McCann's men defended excellently when called upon and looked lively on the counter attack against an established Championship side.

Posh made a bright start to the contest at Griffin Park and opened the scoring inside the opening two minutes as Paul TAYLOR collected a pass from Shaquile Coulthirst and curled a fine effort into the bottom corner past the goalkeeper.  Gwion Edwards and Marcus Maddison also deserve credit for their pressing to dispossess Field in the left-back region.

Holldack was denied by goalkeeper Ben Alnwick on the quarter hour mark while Ryan Woods fired over from long distance.

Taylor missed a great chance to double the lead after Coulthirst's effort was deflected into his path, but the striker dragged his effort wide of the far post.

Sam Saunders fired over from 25-yards on 33 minutes and moments later, Alnwick repelled the lively Scott Hogan who managed to burst into the box with a fine stop.

Alnwick produced a fine double stop to deny substitute Mcleod and then Sawyers as the Bees pressed for an equaliser.

Maddison fired over from long-range as Posh caused problems at the other end while Vibe glanced a fine Woods cross wide of the target as the action switched to the other end.

Baldwin and Tafazolli made two wonderful blocks as the Bees pressed but Posh chalked up an eye catching win.
