Ryan Tafazolli netted his first Posh goal in a 1-1 draw at Boston United.

Peterborough United began their pre-season friendly campaign with a 1-1 draw at Conference North side Boston United at the Jakeman's Stadium.

Ryan Tafazolli, who skippered the first half side, opened the scoring for Posh with a powerful header from a Marcus Maddison corner, but Lamin Colley netted a fine equaliser midway through the second period.

After a quite start to the opening pre-season friendly of the campaign, Grant McCann's men began to knock the ball about with more confidence and Michael Bostwick was a whisker away from breaking the deadlock on 19 minutes, but his drive from 20-yards whistled just past the post.

Gormley tested Christian Dibble, the son of former Posh goalkeeping coach Andy, with a decent effort on 25 minutes after wriggling into some space down the left channel.

Marcus Maddison sent a curling effort over the bar from 25-yards moments later as Posh continued to get themselves into decent shooting positions.

A superb back-heel from Maddison picked out Gormley on the half hour mark, but his goalbound shot was cleared superbly by Joe Maguire.

Posh found the breakthrough on 38 minutes as a corner from Maddison was powered home by TAFAZOLLI for his first goal in Posh colours as goalkeeper Dibble missed his punch at the near post.

Maddison sent a dipping free-kick over the bar after Angol was felled on the edge of the box. Posh were dealt an injury blow moments later as Angol went off with an ankle injury, Shaquile Coulthirst his replacement.

Hilliard saw a curler well saved by Ben Alnwick three minutes after the re-start.

Colley fired over on the volley for the Pilgrims after a corner was only half cleared on 53 minutes. Nabi was superbly denied by Dibble on 56 minutes as Posh pushed for a second goal.

The hosts levelled the scores just after the hour mark as Hilliard and Green combined to feed COLLEY who took a touch and fired low across Alnwick and into the back of the net.

Hilliard dragged a shot wide of the far post after wriggling into space down the left channel as the Pilgrims, buoyed by that equaliser, began to assert themselves on the fixture.

Taylor blazed over after a strong run on 79 minutes as Posh pressed to try and find themselves a second goal that certainly their possession deserved.

Coulthirst had an effort well saved by Dibble who did brilliantly moments later to save with his legs as Posh threatened a late winner.
