Maddison nets winner in pre-season win at Boreham Wood.

A penalty two minutes into the second half secured Peterborough United a 1-0 win over National Conference side Boreham Wood in the second pre-season friendly of the campaign.

Jon Taylor flashed a shot wide of the upright as Posh worked a short corner routine well in the opening few minutes.

Moke went into the book for a thunderous tackle on Hughes just after the quarter hour mark.

Jon Taylor picked out Paul Taylor on the half hour mark, the latter seeing his effort from 25-yards go just wide of the target as Posh pressed for the deserved breakthrough.

Chris Forrester's mazy run appeared to be ended by a foul in the box on 34 minutes, but the referee saw nothing wrong with Taffazoli seeing an effort blocked as the ball ran loose.

Andrade fired wide after creating a bit of space for himself in the box on 38 minutes for the hosts, who were working hard out of possession to hunt Posh down.

Da Silva Lopes was a whisker away from the breakthrough, but his snap shot from 20-yards bounced wide of the far post.

The deadlock was broken two minutes into the second half as a forceful run from Maddison down the right hand side saw him burst past two defenders and slip the ball inside for Inman who was crudely taken out by Nunn. MADDISON stepped up and coolly converted from the spot.

Uchechi clipped the top of the crossbar with a left-foot curler on 69 minutes as Posh got themselves in a tangle at the back.

Gormley warmed the gloves of the Boreham Wood goalkeeper with a stinging volley as Posh pressed high up the pitch to win the ball back.

Coulthirst saw a low strike deflect wide of the target on 74 minutes after a good link-up with Beautyman. Maddison then displayed great vision and a bit of cheekiness to feed Gormley with a pass through the defenders legs, but the front man scuffed his shot wide.

Henry produced a stunning stop to deny Shakes before the host struck the post through the same player before Baldwin produced a wonderful block.

The young Posh keeper then made another excellent save, making himself huge to keep out Shakes as Nabi was dispossessed in a dangerous area.
