Posh swoop for highly-rated West Bromwich Albion starlet Adil Nabi.
Peterborough United are delighted to announce the signing of highly-rated West Bromwich Albion starlet Adil Nabi for an undisclosed fee.
The 21-year-old has penned a three and a half year deal at the ABAX Stadium and will go straight into the squad for Saturday's trip to Gillingham. Nabi can play as an attacking midfielder, as a number 10 or as a striker.
He has played regularly alongside former Posh loanee Saido Berahino at younger age groups and has just recently returned from a loan spell with the Delhi Dynamos in the Indian Premier League where he was managed by former Brazilian left-back Roberto Carlos.
Nabi said: "It has happened very quickly and this is a very important move for me. It came to the stage where it is time for me to play some games and when Peterborough came calling, I jumped at the chance. The players that have come into this football club and gone on to do great things recently shows what can be done.
"I am excited to play some football now. I want to help the team get promoted into the Championship and score some goals along the way. The move happened very quickly, I got a phone call from the agent and he asked me my thoughts and I said 'go for it 100%'. This is a big club and I am delighted to be here.
"I have been at West Brom since I was six or seven years old so it is a big part of my family and my two younger brothers are also there so it is a big move but one that I am looking forward to."
Manager Graham Westley said: "This is a long story because it goes back to me wandering up one night to watch Kemar Roofe play for West Brom under 21s. Kemar did well to be fair, but I came away with the name Nabi on my lips. He was outstanding, he scored a brilliant hat-trick, but it wasn't just the hat-trick, it was his all round display.
"I have had my eye on him ever since. He went out to India and played some football, he is back, he is available and I am pleased to have him here at the football club. I think the fans are going to love him."
Nabi will wear the number 42 shirt. He will not be able to play against his former club in the Emirates FA Cup as part of the agreement of the transfer.
