Posh 'B' are the league champions after a nervy win over Birmingham.

Posh B headed into the final round of the opening season with a slim chance of winning the league - the way this could happen would be if Norwich and Cambridge drew and Posh beat Birmingham so there was very slim chance of this happening.

Posh B started very well and took an early lead through Findley as he slotted the ball into the bottom corner after a fine pass from Mureza. Birmingham started to find their way back into the game and they got a well-deserved equaliser where they robbed Mureza of the ball and scored.

At half time the scores were level, meanwhile the Norwich and Cambridge game had just finished 1-1 meaning if Posh could get a win they would win the league. Posh started the second half slowly and Birmingham rattled the woodwork three times over the course of a five minute period.

Birmingham finally scored to make it 2-1 when they put the ball in from the rebound after the ball hit the post. Posh needed a quick recovery and equalised when Findley’s shot hit the post and Mureza followed up to make it 2-2.

It was Posh grabbed the winner as Taylor rifled the ball into the net to make it 3-2. It was a nervy last five minutes, but Posh held on to win 3-2, meaning they are league champions. Coach Callum Avent said: ' It showed great heart and desire to get back into the game and we deserved the three points from the fixture. I'm delighted to have won the league as it's the first league we have won since we started the program. '

Posh: Osman, Batten, Buckley, Hollis, Mureza, Findley, Danko, Taylor.
