Posh Ladies move into top spot after comfortable win.

Peterborough United Ladies jumped to the top of the East Midlands Division 1 ( South) League with an ultimately comfortable 4-0 win against local rivals Riverside Ladies.

Riverside started strongly and but for an excellent save from goalkeeper, Kathryn Lusk, could easily have taken the lead. Riverside were to rue those missed opportunities when against the run of play Keir Perkins slotted home in the 38th minute after good work by Laura Tonkin to make it 1-0. In the 43rd minute Keir Perkins doubled the Ladies lead after a great pass from Jeorgia Carr resulted in a simple tap in.

In the second half the Ladies started to gather momentum and only an excellent save from the Riverside goalkeeper prevented the Posh Ladies from scoring a third goal. The Ladies finally got the third goal in the 70th minute when Tash Applegate struck a low hard shot that the Riverside goalkeeper couldn't hold. Keir Perkins completed her hat trick in the 81st minute with a beauty of a goal which dipped in the left corner of the net. This was a good performance from the Peterborough United Ladies against an opposition that sought to frustrate and press in numbers to prevent the Ladies from playing their normal fluid game.
