Posh Ladies consolidate position at the top following emphatic win.

Christmas came early for the Peterborough United Ladies after an emphatic 6-0 win against Leicester City Women's Development side.

Tash Applegate started the rout in the 36th minute with a 35 yard free kick which sailed over the head of the Leicester goalkeeper. Two minutes later in the 38th minute Applegate was the provider when her cross from the left allowed Amy Challis to strike home from close range. There was still time for the Ladies to get another before half-time when Kier Perkins lobbed the Leicester goalkeeper in the 46th minute to make it 3-0.

The Ladies knew that Leicester would come at them in the second half but it was Peterborough United Ladies who struck first to make it 4-0 in the 57th minute after Perkins scored her second of the afternoon after good work from Applegate. Three minutes later in the 60th minute the outstanding Jess Driscoll scored the Ladies 5th goal with a right footed strike that left the Leicester goalkeeper helpless. Amy Challis round off an excellent performance with her second goal in the 76th minute to make it 6-0.

This was an outstanding team performance from the Peterborough United Ladies team. They battled hard and took their chances when presented. Credit to the Leicester City Women's Development team, they never gave in despite the score-line.
