Posh v Swansea: The Last Time

22 August 2016

Posh host Premier League opposition in the EFL Cup on Tuesday evening.

Peterborough United host Premier League side Swansea City at the ABAX Stadium on Tuesday evening (7.45pm) in the second round of the EFL Cup and it was in this competition that provided the last fixture between the two sides.

A crowd of just over 4,000 witnessed a Scott Sinclair hat-trick to move the Swans into the fourth round of the competition on a night which saw plenty of attacking threat from both sides.

Sinclair's opener came after just five minutes, but it didn't take Gary Johnson's men long to level, striker Craig Mackail-Smith firing home from close-range after excellent approach play by Charlie Lee.

Referee Nigel Miller turned down two Posh penalty appeals and Aaron Mclean went close to giving the hosts the lead, but it was the visitors who grabbed the second goal as Sinclair converted a David Cotterill pass.

George Boyd went close to levelling again before Sinclair made the game safe with a close-range finish after good work from Stephen Dobbie.

Tickets for Tuesday night's rematch between the two sides are available at www.theposhtickets.com, via the Ticketmaster hotline 0844 847 1934* and in person at the ABAX Stadium Box Office.
