Posh have secured the loan signing of Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Luke McGee.

Peterborough United have moved quickly to address the goalkeeping situation at the ABAX Stadium with the loan signing of Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Luke McGee.

Ben Alnwick requested to be put on the transfer list over the weekend and with the transfer window closing on Wednesday evening, club officials moved quickly to secure the signing of the highly-rated shot-stopper.

McGee has agreed a deal until the 2nd January 2017 with the 20-year-old meeting his new team-mates ahead of the Checkatrade Trophy tie with Norwich City.

Boss Grant McCann said: "I have seen Luke play a number of times for the development squad at Spurs. He is third choice behind Lloris and Vorm and trains with them on a regular basis. We had to move quickly because of the situation regarding Ben and I am delighted to get this business done.

"Luke will come here to fight for the number one jersey. That is what I want. It was an important bit of business to get done."

Born in Edgware, McGee joined Spurs in 2012 and made more appearances for the Under-18s than any other player in 2012-13, featuring 19 times in league action.

He also featured in all three FA Youth Cup matches Spurs played that season and made two appearances in the NextGen Series, including a notable 4-1 win away to Barcelona.

It will be McGee's first loan spell away from White Hart Lane as he looks to gain first team experience. He is currently third choice behind Hugo Lloris and Michel Vorm.

McGee will wear the number 13 shirt at the ABAX.
