Posh secure the loan signing of George Moncur.
Peterborough United are delighted to announce that we have reached an agreement with Barnsley over the loan deal of George Moncur until 3rd January 2017 with the paperwork on the deal completed at the Mick George Training Academy.
The midfielder joined Barnsley in the summer from Colchester United in a big-money move, but has been restricted to a handful of appearances in the opening weeks of the campaign. The 23-year-old, who began his career at West Ham United, is a former England youth international and was coveted by a host of clubs in the summer.
Manager Grant McCann was delighted to get the deal done: “I am really pleased. Obviously we tried to get him in the summer but the boy wanted to test himself in the Championship which is fair enough. We are delighted to have him on board.
“He scored 14-15 goals in a side that was relegated last season and that speaks volumes for him. He is only going to add to our attacking threat.”
Moncur was pleased to get the deal done and cannot wait to get started. “It has been a mad day or so, but I am delighted to be here. I can’t wait to get started and put on the blue shirt. I am here to create goals, run at people and hopefully score goals and the aim is to try and break into the team straight away.
Moncur’s squad number will be confirmed shortly.
