Posh have secured the signing of defender Jerome Binnom-Williams for an undisclosed fee.

Peterborough United are pleased to announce the signing of Crystal Palace left-back Jerome Binnom-Williams with the 21-year-old penning a two-year contract at the ABAX Stadium after the two clubs agreed an undisclosed fee.

Binnom-Williams completed the formalities at the Mick George Training Academy on Tuesday morning and will meet his new team-mates as preparations continue for the opening day at Rochdale.

Manager Grant McCann told theposh.com: "Jerome was on our list from very early on. We didn't realise that we were able to sign him on a permanent deal so we are delighted to have been able to get it done.

"He is someone I watched last year at Burton and he did well and he had a good loan spell at Leyton Orient as well. I did say that I want competition for places and he provides that in the left-back area.

"Andrew Hughes has been excellent, but it gives him some competition and keeps him on his toes," McCann said.

Binnom-Williams spent time on-loan with Southend United and Burton Albion, playing against Posh for the latter last term. He is an England under 19 international.

Binnom-Williams admitted the deal happened quickly. "I was sitting down with the family and the girlfriend a few nights ago and I got a call from my agent saying that Peterborough were interested in taking me on a permanent deal and it was something that excited me.

"I am delighted to be here. I have been at Crystal Palace for a long time, so it was a big decision to leave, but I want to play football and it is down to me now to push for a place in the starting line-up," Binnom-Williams concluded.
