Williams and Fox on hand to open new library at Parnwell Primary School.

Peterborough United striker Aaron Williams and defender Andrew Fox visited Parnwell Primary School on Tuesday (12th April) afternoon to officially open the new school library.

The Posh duo, joined by club mascot Peter Burrow, spent time meeting a select number of children who had been chosen by teachers, after they had completed an ‘extreme reading’ competition which saw the pupils have their picture taken reading their favourite books in different locations.

The excited students cheered on as Posh striker Aaron Williams cut the ribbon before spending time reading and looking at books with the Posh stars in the library, which will help raise the standards of literacy at the school.

The kids were also given the opportunity to quiz the Posh players about their careers and how they became a professional footballer, before heading down to officially open the new library.

Parnwell Primary School Headteacher Janice Butterworth said; “We’d like to say a huge thank you to the guys at Posh for assisting us with the opening of the new Parnwell School library. It was fantastic to see the kid’s faces when the players and mascot walked in the room, it was priceless and unforgettable.

“We haven’t had a school library for a number of years and now we have been able to invest in one which is huge for our children and will certainly raise the standards of literacy at the school.”

Each child received two signed Posh matchday programmes, which featured both Williams and Fox.
