Ben Alnwick drops in on latest Just4Keepers session.

Peterborough United 1st team goalkeeper and Captain Ben Alnwick attended the local Just4Keepers Cambridgeshire session.

Coach Ian Pledger was over the moon that Ben dropped in to the session: 'I work with Ben everyday and know the effort he puts in and the enthusiasm he has for the game, when he heard about my weekly coaching sessions he was only too willing to come across and offer advice and meet the young keepers, he stayed for the whole session and I had to prevent him from joining in!'.

'Children from the age of 7-18 of all abilities attend the class, it's rare to get a keeper specific weekly session and to draw on Bens experience was invaluable. A lot of the boys watch Posh regularly so it was a great experience for them.

'Ben started out like them playing grass roots football before getting his opportunity at Sunderland. He also played for England from age 14-21 so was in a good position to offer up some helpful hints to all of the young goalkeepers. Peterborough United goalkeeper Dion Curtis Henry, who made his debut in the win over Millwall, was actually discovered at a Just4Keepers class.'

The classes will soon include an FA qualified female coach specifically for girls who want goalkeeper training. All classes take place on a Monday night at Yaxley FC and anyone wanting further details can contact Ian on 07950 285810.
