Peterborough United Girls Development Team (U17) v Midlands Independent School’s Football Association (U18) Sunday 1/03/2015

Peterborough United Girls provided a masterclass performance to beat their older opponents from ISFA 4-1.

From the opening whistle the strike force of Keir, Bryony and Emily caused havoc amongst the ISFA defence. The midfield of De Lacy, Britt, Emma and Laura really battled well and soon created the openings for the strikers. It came as no surprise when Emily opened the scoring with a well taken shot that the ISFA goalkeeper couldn’t reach.

ISFA quickly responded when a loose ball bounced off a Posh player and into the path of the ISFA striker to make it 1-1. Undeterred the Posh Girls continued to play their passing game and were rewarded when Bryony shot from close range to make it 2-1.

The second half continued in a similar vein. Posh continued to press forward and put the ISFA defence under great pressure. Evie, Steph and Amy G were beginning to dominate the midfield and the Posh strikers were causing all the problems. The third crucial goal was courtesy of Emily who slipped past the defender and calmly slotted the ball into the net from 15 yards.

There was just enough time for Emma to shot from close range to make it 4-1. This was a really impressive performance from Peterborough United Girls. The defence of Lea, Fiona, Stephania, Laura and Ellie were outstanding. The goalkeepers, Amy M and Katie were never really troubled and had a solid game. This was an excellent team performance.
