Youngster Harry Anderson netted a brace as the Posh development team ran out 3-0 winners over AFC Wimbledon.

The Peterborough United development team ran out comfortable 3-0 winners over AFC Wimbledon at the Nene Park Academy with young winger Harry Anderson netting twice in an impressive display.

In truth, Aaron Mclean's men could have reached double figures had it not been for a combination of fine goalkeeping and the woodwork.

Marcus Maddison struck the outside of the post and was twice denied by the Dons stopper, while Anderson, David Norris and Kyle Vassell were superbly denied, the latter stunned to see the goalkeeper get a strong right hand to his fierce effort.

It was Harry Beautyman who opened the scoring for Posh, sliding home at the far post to convert a low Maddison cross. Anderson fired home at the back post to make it 2-0 before completing the scoring with an excellent finish.

Erhun Oztumer was unplayable at times, jinking past defenders as if they were not there, while Liam Marshall was commanding at the back.

Dion Henry made two outstanding saves in the second half to preserve the clean sheet. Maddison saw a trademark free-kick clear the crossbar late on.

Posh: Henry, Robinson (sub Adebayo-Rowling), Marshall, Burgess, Luto, Oztumer, Anderson (sub Friend), Maddison, Norris, Beautyman, James (sub Vassell).
