Peterborough United host neighbours Cambridge United at the ABAX Stadium in the Chris Turner Memorial Match on Saturday (3pm).

It will be the first meeting between the two sides since December 2001 with the game at the Abbey Stadium finishing goal-less.

Posh just shade the historical head to head record with 12 wins to Cambridge's 11 with nine draws down the years.

This fixture has been arranged in memory of Chris Turner, who sadly passed away earlier this year after a long battle against illness. Turner was arguably the most successful manager in Peterborough United's history and one of the best players to grace the blue and white.

Turner retired as a player in 1984 and took over as boss at Cambridge United a year later, managing them until 1990. He also played for the U's during his illustrious playing career.

Ahead of kick-off there will be one minute of applause while the Posh players will be wearing black armbands. Former team-mates of both clubs will be in attendance and will be pitch side as the players emerge from the tunnel.

The Posh Trust and Cambridge Fans United (CFU) have each arranged for two home shirts to be specially embroidered with the details of the game, and to be signed by the players. One shirt will be signed by the players taking part on the day. The second shirt will be signed by the Posh ‘92’ squad and other retired players.

The Trusts will each present their two shirts to the other Trust as a symbol of the links that Turner had with both football clubs - and to show unity amongst both sets of fans in his memory.

After the events of the day, both Trusts will arrange to auction/raffle their own unique embroidered shirts to raise further funds for the chosen cause.

Posh boss Dave Robertson believes it will be a fitting tribute to a club legend: 'It will be a fantastic occasion and it deserves to be. Turner was a legend here at Peterborough United and at Cambridge United.

'The football match should be a very entertaining spectacle as that is the best way we can honour the great man. I know that both clubs are looking forward to the game and also looking forward to putting on a show.

'We want it to be entertaining, but it’s also a very important match as far as preparations for the new Football League season are concerned,' Robertson said.

The Posh boss is without the services of injured pair Jack Baldwin and Harry Beautyman, while striker Souleymane Coulibaly is away with the Ivory Coast under 23s.

The game is all-ticket and tickets can be purchased at www.theposhtickets.com, via the Ticketmaster hotline 0844 847 1934 and in person at the ABAX Stadium Box Office.

All profits from his game will be donated to Glennfield Care Centre who cared for Chris for many years.
