Striker Joe Gormley scored with his first touch for the second friendly out of three as Posh ran out comfortable 6-0 winners.

Peterborough United put in a polished performance against Cliftonville with Dave Robertson's men playing some excellent football throughout on the 3G surface and it was written in the stars that Joe Gormley would net against his former club.

Gormley's goal came with his first touch but the pick of the goals came from Jon Taylor who swept home into the top corner. Kyle Vassell, A Trialist, Conor Washington, Michael Bostwick were the other goalscorers.

It was the home side who had the first effort on goal as David McDaid's low effort was smothered by Ben Alniwck before Bradley Maslen-Jones cleared the loose ball.

Trialist B curled a free-kick into the wall for Posh on 15 minutes as Dave Robertson's men pressed for the breakthrough.

Alnwick was well positioned to deny McDaid on 19 minutes after a ball over the top from Martin Donnelly.

Harry Anderson fired over on the volley after a deep cross to the back post before Newell saw a right-footed effort blocked on the edge of the area.

Jermaine Anderson sent a powerful drive over from 12-yards after good work from his namesake Harry as Posh began to get on top.

On 28 minutes, Posh got the breakthrough as Trialist (playing on the left-side of midfield) turned sharply inside the box and rifled a low shot into the bottom corner with his left-foot.

Jermaine Anderson fired wide from 25-yards as Posh continued to create chances. It was 2-0 on 34 minutes as Kyle VASSELL beat the offside trap, controlled a clever Jermaine Anderson through ball and superbly curled the ball past the keeper.

Vassell headed a superb cross over the bar from one of the trialists on 37 minutes. Martin Donnelly fired wide of the far post on 43 minutes as Cliftonville came close to reducing the arrears before the break.

On the stroke of half-time, some excellent wing play from Harry Anderson created a heading opportunity for Vassell, but he couldn't keep his effort on target.

On 49 minutes, Joe GORMLEY, with his first touch, stabbed home a superb Maddison cross to make it 3-0 and earned a generous round of applause from the home faithful.

Maddison fired wide with his right-foot moments later as Posh opened the hosts up once again. Gormley fired wide from a tight angle moments later after an intelligent ball into the channel by Almeida Santos.

Jay Donnelly was then denied by the legs of Alnwick after getting in behind the Posh defence. Washington's shot on the turn at the other end went wide after a good link up with Gormley.

Alnwick denied a Cliftonville trialist before Posh made it 4-0 as WASHINGTON slid the ball past the advancing goalkeeper.

Alnwick was withdrawn with 12 minutes to go- Henrich Ravas introduced in between the sticks. Newell also made way with Trialist D introduced.

Marcus Maddison hit the bar with a delicate chip after excellent hold up play from Washington before Maddison saw a powerful drive saved by the goalkeeper.

Posh made it 5-0 with arguably the goal of the game five minutes from time as Washington cut the ball back for TAYLOR who fired a superb shot into the top corner with his right-foot.

Taylor was denied by the keeper moments later, the trialist tipping the ball over the bar. Posh made it 6-0 before the end as Michael BOSTWICK curled home into the bottom corner from just inside the box.
