Peterborough United suffer another home defeat as Colchester claim maximum points at the ABAX Stadium.

Two second half goals condemned Peterborough United to defeat the ABAX Stadium as Colchester United claimed a 2-0 victory as boos rang out around the stadium following another disappointing display.

Darren Ferguson's men made a bright start to the contest and could have found themselves ahead inside three minutes as Erhun Oztumer's curler was tipped over by Colchester goalkeeper Sam Walker.

From the resulting corner kick, Michael Bostwick stabbed wide on the volley after getting across his man from the flighted Oztumer delivery.

Oztumer was again denied by Walker after cutting inside from the right with Newell firing the rebound over from close-range. Newell cut inside onto his right-foot on 28 minutes and fired goal-wards, but Walker was well positioned to save.

Payne was cautioned for a foul on 37 minutes as the game began to get scrappy on a difficult surface. Sanchez Watt fired inches past the post for the visitors moments later after letting fly from 20-yards on the angle.

David Fox fired a free-kick well wide for the visitors as Burgess went into the book for kicking the ball away. Oztumer was cautioned for appearing to win the ball on the stroke of half-time.

Bostwick curled a free-kick into the arms of Walker moments after re-start as Ntlhe was felled on the edge of the box following a forceful run.

The visitors opened the scoring on 54 minutes a cross from the right was tucked home at the near post by former West Ham United front man Freddie SEARS who just got to the ball ahead of the Posh back-line.

Posh made a double change on 58 minutes as Conor Washington and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing replaced Beautyman and Maddison. Smith and James both saw shots blocked, while at the other end, Sears fired over.

Aaron Mclean replaced Newell in the final Posh change of the afternoon with 15 minutes remaining. On 85 minutes, Colchester made the game safe as HEWITT was allowed to run and run before drilling the ball past Alnwick and into the back of the net.

Oztumer saw a shot deflected for a corner kick moments later before Mclean headed over from the resulting set-piece.
