It’s the poshest wrapping shoppers will see this Christmas, and it took place at Queensgate Shopping Centre last week.

Peterborough United, aka The Posh, sent their players Gabriel Zakuani and Kgosi Ntlhe to help wrap customers’ presents as part of the charity fundraising for Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice and Bloodwise, Queensgate’s Charity of the Year.

Gabriel and Kgosi both admitted it had been a while since they had wrapped a present, but the expert charity team were on hand and soon had them sticking, folding, tying bows and curling ribbons; much to the delight of onlookers.

A club spokesman said: ‘The players were happy to help and really got stuck in. It is fantastic to be able to help two charities that undertake wonderful work and I am sure that the players’ will be on wrapping duty in their households this Christmas.’

Mark Broadhead, Centre Director at Queensgate Shopping Centre, said: “The players were brilliant fun and really got into the Christmas spirit. I can’t thank them and their team enough for their time and bringing joy to so many people and helping to support two wonderful charities.”

Peterborough United fans can now get their match day tickets from Queensgate’s Customer Information Desk (outside John Lewis) in a new partnership struck between the shopping centre and football club.

The gift wrapping service now runs daily until Christmas Eve.
