Erhun Oztumer scored a hat-trick as the Posh reserve side beat Boston United.

The Peterborough United reserve team chalked up a convincing 8-0 victory over Boston United's under 21 side at York Street on Wednesday night with midfielder Erhun Oztumer scoring a hat-trick.

Oztumer's treble, which included a header, set Posh on the way to a resounding success with striker Kyle Vassell also bagging a brace.

Midfielder Harry Beautyman scored his first goal since returning from injury while youngster Jack Friend came off the substitutes bench to score twice late on against the club where he is currently on-loan.

Manager Dave Robertson said: 'It was a very worthwhile exercise. We needed to get 60 minutes into some of our players. I asked the players to use the game as a good exercise of getting control of a fixture, in terms of the possession of the football and we did that very well.

'The players did exactly what I asked of them. On the hour mark, the youth team took over proceedings and it was fantastic to see them add to the scoring. There were some pleasing performances and it was great to see Erhun score a hat-trick.

'Kyle got two goals and an excellent strike from Harry Beautyman put us firmly in control. We will keep arranging these games as and when we need to get playing time into our players,' Robertson said.
