Midfielder Jermaine Anderson has been selected in the England under 20 squad.
Peterborough United midfielder Jermaine Anderson has been named in the England under 20 squad to face Czech Republic at Shrewsbury Town's Greenhaus Meadow in early September.
The game takes place on Monday 7 September following an earlier game against the same opposition behind-closed-doors at St. George’s Park.
A number of players included featured at U19s level last season and have also represented the Young Lions at U18 level including Anderson.
Anderson is set to miss Peterborough United's Sky Bet League One fixture at Southend United. Gabi Zakuani has been called up by DR Congo while Joe Gormley is on standby for the Northern Ireland side. Should three players be selected in an international squad, you are able to ask for the league fixture to be postponed.
Along with those familiar to the England set-up, defender Mason Holgate, who joined Everton from Barnsley this summer, is included in a Three Lions squad for the first time.
Sheffield United forward Che Adams is also selected and will be hoping to finally pull on an England shirt having previously been called up for England C last November when he was playing for Ilkeston Town.
He was then snapped up by the Blades, before he had chance to feature in their win over Estonia in Halifax.
Southampton forward Ryan Seager also becomes the latest player from the Saints youth academy to receive international recognition with his maiden call-up.
“There is a wide range of talent within the squad and it is up to us to try and push them and to give them opportunities,” said Downing.
“The primary objective during this meet up has been to get to know the players as well as possible.
“We have been given seven days together so it’s important we utilise that time well and get to know them as individuals.”
Tickets for the game in Shrewsbury are on sale now and cost just £3 for adults and £1.50 for concessions. They can be purchased directly from Shrewsbury Town FC by clicking here or by calling 01743 273943.
