Erhun Oztumer scored a stunning goal as the Posh development team beat Gillingham 4-2.

The Peterborough United development team recorded a 4-2 victory over Gillingham at the Mick George Training Academy with Erhun Oztumer scoring a stunning goal from fully 30-yards.

Oztumer collected the ball from the centre circle, advanced and measured a perfect lob over the Gills goalkeeper with the ball finding the back of the net via the underside of the crossbar.

There were plenty of opportunities in a goal-less first half with Oztumer and striker Jonny Edwards both going close, while Posh shot-stopper Dion Henry also made a smart stop.

After the break, Posh soon began to get on top and opened the scoring through Edwards who poked home from close-range after good work from the impressive Leonardo Da-Silva Lopes.

The lead was doubled soon afterwards as Oztumer fired home his stunning effort and the attacking midfieldr had a big influence on proceedings.

Gillingham quickly reduced the arrears with a swerving shot that found the corner before Posh made the game safe with two quick-fire goals in an impressive showing to complete the scoring for Aaron Mclean's men.

The visitors provided a consolation when a free-kick crept into the far corner, but in truth, Posh could have added to their tally with Edwards twice denied by the goalkeeper before Da-Silva Lopes tricked his way past two defenders and cracked a shot against the post.
