Slovakian goalkeeper Henrich Ravas was the hero as the Posh under 18s beat Northampton Town on spot-kicks.

The Peterborough United under 18s progressed into the final of the David Joyce Cup after a penalty shoot-out win over Northampton Town at the ABAX Stadium after a 1-1 draw in normal time.

Keano Robinson sent the tie to penalties with a neat finish in normal time before goalkeeper Henrich Ravas stepped up to be the hero, saving two penalties as Posh ran out 4-3 winners from the spot.

Bradley Maslen-Jones, Huw Alban-Jones, Keano Robinson and Ollie Luto all converted from 12-yards as Posh showed deadly accuracy from the spot.

Jack Friend, who played 45 minutes for the development side on Tuesday, tested the Cobblers goalkeeper in the opening exchanges with the shot-stopper pushing the shot out to the onrushing Cameron Gow who fired into the side netting.

Posh lost the services of midfielder Joe Hood to injury on the stroke of half-time, Huw Alban-Jones was his replacement.

Posh made a double change at the break with Morgan Penfold and Tobi Adebayo-Rowling introduced for Friend and Humphrey.

Friend tested the goalkeeper from 30-yards 10 minutes after the re-start as Posh tried to find the breakthrough in this cup-tie.

However, it was the visitors who opened the scoring and a fine solo effort it was too, the striker cutting inside Bradley Maslen-Jones before firing past Ravas.

Posh equalised on 70 minutes as Keanu ROBINSON made a forceful run, his attempt at a one-two was intercepted, but it fell kindly for the defender who slotted home past the goalkeeper.

Substitute Morgan Penfold beat the offside trap on 80 minutes, but he fired straight at the Cobblers goalkeeper.

The game went straight to penalty kicks where Slovakian goalkeeper Henrich Ravas was the hero, saving two spot-kicks as Posh ran out 4-3 winners from the spot.
